This autumn was so beautiful and seemed
to last and last. In sight of all this color,
I held my breath.
Any day now, it could all change –
a hard rain, a heavy snow or just
a matter of time. All this beauty,
that once was green, will be gone as well.
See it now then,
and be grateful too for snow.
This morning, with the snowfall,
endless autumn has ended after all.
Without warning, winter is here.
My mother has died,
her hands like white porcelain.
And the snow too is beautiful.
